A French Canadian originally from Hearst Ontario, Simon is bilingual.
Simon’s major artistic interest is doing various types of stone sculptures.
He also has a talent for working with wood as well. Since 1999 when he studied
stone carving at Kwantlen University College, he has developed a unique
and distinctively different design in carving stones. In the last several
years his interest in rocks and gems has grown and he has begun to search
for and collect his own stones for carvings. Simon has travelled
extensively throughout British Columbia, the Yukon, Alaska, Canada and the
United States bringing home various types of rocks and gems for carving.
Simon provides individual lessons in soft stone carving in his home studio.
Simon has done some commissioned work with various types of stones.
He also does soapstone demonstrations for Opus Art Supplies. However,
being a very spiritual person, he usually prefers to let the rocks
he carves tell him what they want to be.
Simon’s work has been collected and displayed both nationally
and internationally. He displays his sculptures at various shows
and galleries throughout the province. Simon's is a member of
Painters Square in White Rock. You can find him doing carving on
the Boardwalk in front of the White Rock Museum from Mid May to
the end of October.
